Art and Music Program

The goal of the Arts program at Hopeful Journeys is to introduce students to a multitude of arts- related topics including visual art lessons, music, movement, and drama within a less restrictive environment. Students join peers for art classes in the new art and music classroom to build art skills as well as OT and social skills. Visual art lessons work on both exposure and fine motor skills such as grasping a crayon, cutting paper, or lacing. With music, Hopeful Journeys works on activities that require attending, following directions, and activities that incorporate academic skills. Drama is used to not only work on social and speech skills such as working in a group, but also to recognizing and imitating emotions and facial expressions.
